Testosterone Therapy

Testosterone is a crucial hormone primarily produced in the testicles of men. It plays a significant role in the maintenance of masculine characteristics, including muscle mass, bone density, sexual function, sperm production, and cardiovascular health.

Several factors can contribute to testosterone deficiency, including aging, injury to the testicles, chronic diseases like diabetes or obesity, certain medications, genetic disorders, and hormonal disorders.

Andropause, also known as male menopause, refers to the gradual decline in testosterone levels that occurs as men age. This decline typically begins in the late 40s or early 50s and continues throughout life.

Testosterone deficiency, a hallmark of andropause, can lead to various symptoms, include fatigue, decreased sexual desire, weak erection, reduced muscle mass and strength, increased body fat, mood changes, and cognitive difficulties. Testosterone deficiency can contribute to complications such as heart attack, stroke, osteoporosis, and diabetes.

Diagnosing testosterone deficiency involves a simple blood test to measure the levels of testosterone and a few other related hormones. If symptoms are present and testosterone levels are low, testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) may be considered.

Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT)

TRT involves administering testosterone via injections, tablets, or creams to restore testosterone levels to normal ranges. The wide list of benefits of TRT include increased energy levels, improved sexual desire and function, enhanced muscle mass and strength, better mood and brain function, improving blood sugar level, and preventing heart attack.

If you are concerned about your hormone levels or thinking that you might be experiencing symptoms of testosterone deficiency. Schedule an appointment for hormone testing or consultation to determine whether testosterone replacement therapy is suitable for you.
